A Breath of Fresh Air

The air around us has begun to change. The birds are singing when I awaken in the mornings. The early flowers have begun to bloom. Many people have been content with the comforts of home for several weeks. The feeling of the changing air is calling attention to the beauty of God's handiwork, but it seems there's a difference in the stimulation. The beautiful displays of winter are those which stimulate appreciation from afar; but the springtime displays stimulate active participation. It is a time when something within us hungers to participate in the changing process we know is happening. It is a time when we want to see the fulfillment of matters that slowed as we battled the season of cold. Because we have known cold, we can especially enjoy the more moderate season. Because we have felt the slackness of the cold, we have grown hungry for accomplishment.

Fresh air has a very definite effect upon human beings. Why are we so anxious to open our windows? Why are we so encouraged by the sight of the budding plants? Air is a very basic part of human need. To breath is to live. To live is to bud forth in due time. God placed within man the potental to bud forth when He "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7) Jesus intensified that potental when He spoke unto His disciples. "Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost." (John 20:21,22)

God breathed upon man the air that is eternally fresh in whtever season or circumstance. It is indeed wonderful to walk in the fresh air.
