A Feast in Famine
(In The Presence of the Enemy)
Rev. Harold Mauldin
A table is prepared in the presence of the enemy. What a crazy place to eat at. Who wants to go to the enemies camp and eat? God is able to provide water in the desert, food in famine, and strength for the days. God can provide what you need no matter where you are.
II Kings 7: 1-20
There was a famine in Samaria. It had gotten so bad that a donkey's head sold for 80 pieces of silver and dove's dung sold for 5 pieces of silver.
When famine breaks out, you need someone who can touch God, someone who knows how to look beyond the stuff that's happening around them.
There is a feast even in a famine. Elisha stood right in the middle of the circumstance and said tomorrow things are going to change. He said barley and flour would be a plenty. Tomorrow. God can do anything. Stop paying attention to negative people who say it will never happen. You will never have 1000% belief in your life. There's always going to be some "wet blanket" who will try to destroy what God is doing. Pay no attention just focus on getting out of your famine.
There are 4 people that help bring this miracle to pass. They turned out to be leporous men. Men who were rejects in society. Be careful who you reject. God may be using them to set you free. These men were desperate for a miracle. They were gonna die anyway so why not move. Hey, no need to die without at least trying. Get up and use all you got and let God deliver you from the famine.
Here were their options:
1) Sit there and die
2) Fall into the enemies hand
3) Live or die
When the lepers came to the camp, the enemy was gone. They left their clothes, food, drink, horses and all their possessions behind. The wealth of the world is stored up for us. There is no need to live in famine. Live long and prosper!!
When those lepers came to town, man they ate like pigs. They hid:
1) Silver
2) Gold
3) Raiment
4) They ate and drank
All in the enemies camp!!
Some people are living in a famine mentality. When the king found out what was going on, he did not believe it. He thought it was a trick. When you stay in famine long enough, you become accustomed to it and no good report will be believed.
God wants to pour out a blessing but first we have got to be willing to break out of our famine mentality. When God decides to give you a feast, He usually does it in the presence of your enemies.
St. John 4: 31-38
Jesus has meat that you know not of.
