I'M COMING OUT
BY REV. HAROLD MAULDIN
I KINGS 19: 9 - 13, EXODUS 3: 7 - 10, AND ST JOHN 2: 18-25 In I Kings 19, we find the prophet Elijah in a bad situation. He had killed 450 false prophets and was responsible for the 3 year drought. Jezebel, who was Ahab's wife and a folower of Baal, sent a messenger to Elijah telling him that she was going to kill him. He became afraid and went and hid himself first by a juniper tree and finally in a cave. His faith was turned to fear. He had just called fire down from heaven and now he was running from a threat. God knows how to find his sheep! He knows all about worry, fears and desperation. He knows what it is like to feel alone. God wants us to know that he is bigger than our fears. He wants to come out and do His will. What doest thou here? The enemy wants us to be afraid. He wants us to run from trouble. We don't like trouble. It makes us feel uncomfortable. Elijah listened to the voice of the enemy and feared for his life. God saw him call fire down from heaven and he saw him run and hide. But God has ways to bring us back to His will. He let a strong wind and an earthquake and fire shake Elijah. God was not in the win or the earthquake or the fire. God came in a still small voice. God may let some unstable situation come into your life. However, if we can learn to hear the "still small voice", we can make it through any direction. The voice gives direction. The voice gives help. The voice helps us to come out. When Elijah decided to come out, he had some things he had to do. God wants us to come out so we can help others. Elijah was going to anoint two kings and a prophet. We need to let the anointing flow through us so we can pass the anointing to each other and share in each other's need. It's time to be coming out. Look at Moses and we can see ourselves. He was raised in Egypt (worldly), trained in Egypt. But Moses wound up in the wilderness because he saw the people in bondage and wanted to help them. Acts 7 tells us that Moses was 40 years old when he left Egypt for the wilderness. He was 80 when the bush lit up. Can you imagine being in the wilderness 40 years? The awesome part is that God never gives up on His people. You may feel like you're lonely but you're never alone. God wants you to come out. He that the Son sets free is free indeed. You may be going through a major battle and God may let you go through it for a season. However, at some point God will show up and set you free. He will either use the Word, the Spirit or the ministry, but He will show up. God told Moses, "I want you to lead the people out of Egypt." I'm coming out and I am taking somebody with me. Now, it's not the will of God for us to be hiding in our problems when a world is going to hell. Whatever you're facing, come out. God is waiting. In John 2: 18-25, Jesus is talking about rising again on the third day. The Jews thought that Jesus was talking about the temple. But Jesus was talking about something far greater than a building. God's presence cannot be contained in a building. Many people followed Jesus because of the miracles He did. Jesus knew their hearts. He knows all men's hearts. God knows what is in us. But, he does not condemn us, He convicts us so that He can cleanse us and make us pure. When God gets ready, He's going to move. We must decide that we are going to do what it takes to come out. Victory understands that Jesus said He would come out of the tomb. Jesus set a pattern for us through His death, burial and resurrection. He refused to stay dead. He refused to stay buried and by doing so it led to resurrection. I'm coming out! Elijah, Moses and Jesus had something in common. All their faces were veiled when they came in contact with teh glory. Moses veiled his face, Elijah wrapped his face in the mantle, and Jesus folded the napkin in the tomb. When you come in contact with the glory, He will make you look, act and see differently. Come out, wherever you are! II Corinthians 6: 17-18 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you. And I will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Come out, come out wherever you are. God is ready to receive you. |
