INVESTING IN VAPOR By Rev. Harold Mauldin |
| James 4:
13-17 Life is a vapor. It appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Psalms 90:10 says that our years are 70. After that there is sorrow and hard to labor. We are soon cut off, and fly away. Life on earth compared to eternity is very short. Eternity isn't concerned with time. Eternity has no beginning or end. God is eternity. He doesn't get nervous. Nothing bothers him. He is God. In the beginning .... God. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? The day is the Lord. He made it. We make plans for this and for that. To go here and go there. To buy this and sell that. In fact, there are people who make a living buying and selling. The stock market has a lot of business involved in it. The variety includes, Disney, Exxon, Microsoft, Wal-mart and many others. People who invest often diversify their account. The people who are the most successful are those who follow the business they invest in and know the fine art of buying and selling. The key is to buy cheap and sell when it reaches its peak. The spirit realm also has a stock market. However, the investments made are far more important. One writer said that if we sow to the flesh, we shall reap corruption (death) but if we sow to the spirit, we reap life everlasting. Some people are doing nothing more than investing in vapor. Their life is in the world and the things that are in it. The most important thing in their lives is the life. They have no interest in the things of God. They are vapor-locked. The Bible says in Proverbs 17:24 that wisdom is before him that hath understanding but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. It's never enough for some people. They always want more of this world. Investing in vapor. |
| Luke 16: 19-31 1) A rich man was well dressed
and made lots of money. |
| Matthew 16: 24-28 24) Then said Jesus unto his
disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Saving your life is like investing in vapor, it won't last. Go ahead, have fun; in this world, you will find yourself in trouble. How much is your soul worth? What is your price? Why if you had the whole world and all its riches, would you be happy? It's only vapor. If you gain the whole world and lose your soul, what profit did you make? You are investing in vapor. When Jesus comes back, you will be rewarded. Investing in vapor. |
| Job 7: 7-10 7) O remember that my life is
wind: mine eye shall no more see good. One day, your life will end. All that will last is what we have done for God. All else will burn and become as vapor. |
| I Corinthians 15:19 19) If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. Go out on a cool morning, breathe out and see your breath. That is vapor. That is your life. |
